Falling in love – What a magical experience as our heart opens to another and we feel a deep being-to-being connection! We spend days, weeks, months, open-hearted, experiencing and revealing our true nature: the loving, joyful, deeply passionate, compassionate, tender, kind, understanding and generous beings that we really are.

And then something happens. The magical experience begins to shift as our deepest wounds and emotional triggers begin to surface. As a response to emotional and psychological wounding in our childhood, we developed strategies for emotional survival, defenses, ways of protecting ourselves, patterns that insulated us from feeling deeply vulnerable again the way we felt as children. Of course, all of the ways that we defend, control, manipulate and protect ourselves undermine the very possibility of experiencing the state of love that we both desire and deserve.

The journey to undefended love requires us to be truly open and vulnerable with our partner, and to accept and hold them in their vulnerability with kindness, care and deep compassion. Being truly open, vulnerable, undefended and willing to know ourselves and let another know us is one of the most difficult steps we are invited to take in relationship. And yet, it is this very step that can bring us home to love … a place where deep kindness and compassion for self and other honors our true nature and our courage to love with an undefended and fearless heart. Join us to discover what engaging with a fully courageous heart can bring.
